A.J. Louderback (also known as Andy) is a fifth-generation Texan and former five-term Jackson County Sheriff with over 40 years in law enforcement. He is a United States Air Force veteran and conservative Republican. Louderback was elected to the Texas House in November 2024, replacing retiring Representative Geanie Morrison. During his freshman term in the 89th legislative session (2025), he focused on public safety, border security, education, and law enforcement assistance initiatives. He serves on the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, the Subcommittee on Juvenile Justice, and the House Committee on Homeland Security, Public Safety & Veterans' Affairs. Louderback was appointed chairman of the Subcommittee on New Offenses & Changed Penalties during the 89th session.

Background

A.J. Louderback was born and raised in Matagorda County and is a fifth-generation Texan. He graduated from Palacios High School and Texas A&M University with a BS degree in 1999. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years of active duty followed by 6 years in the reserves. After his military service, he spent 10 years with the Edna Police Department before being elected Jackson County Sheriff, a position he held for five terms before retiring in 2022. Throughout his sheriff tenure and after, he has been deeply involved in immigration and border security advocacy, serving as Chair of the Legislative Division of the Sheriff's Association of Texas since 2005, Executive Director of the Texas Sheriff's Regional Alliance, and representing the National Sheriff's Association on border/immigration matters. He received the 'Service to the Homeland' Award from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and met with President Trump at the White House on multiple occasions regarding border policy.
