Brian Shortsleeve is a venture capitalist and former MBTA chief administrator seeking the Republican nomination for governor. He previously served in Governor Charlie Baker's administration managing the state's transit system. Shortsleeve represents the Baker-era moderate Republican approach in the 2026 race.
Shortsleeve has a background in venture capital and private equity. He served as chief administrator and acting general manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority under Governor Charlie Baker. He launched his gubernatorial campaign in May 2025.
