Chris Gober is a 7th-generation Texan born in rural Throckmorton and Graham, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University (Class of 2001) and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School in 2004. Gober worked as counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice handling national security and border security issues, then served as a top lawyer for the Republican Party of Texas. In 2024, he was director and chief lawyer of Elon Musk's America PAC. He founded Lex Politica, which he describes as the nation's top conservative law firm, and claims victories in landmark cases against Democrats and the government. He has represented Republican politicians including Sen. Ted Cruz in campaign finance cases that reached the U.S. Supreme Court.
Gober is a 7th-generation Texan whose family fought in the American Revolution and Texas Revolution. Raised in small rural communities (Throckmorton, pop. 727 and Graham, pop. 8,372) in the Texas Big Country. After graduating from Texas A&M in 2001, he initially pursued a career in politics and George W. Bush's 2000 campaign but turned down Bush Administration posts to attend Harvard Law School (graduated 2004). He began as a federal prosecutor-track attorney but was recruited to serve as General Counsel for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He has since served as Deputy Counsel to the RNC and General Counsel to the Republican Party of Texas. From 2005-2006, he worked on the team that prepared Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito for their Supreme Court confirmation hearings. He founded Lex Politica law firm in 2024 after serving as director and chief counsel of Elon Musk's America PAC. Married 17 years to Dr. Mary Beth Gober, a psychologist; father of two daughters ages 15 and 12.
