Marquette Greene-Scott was born to Beatrice Greene and the late Joseph E. Greene (a Vietnam Veteran who served three tours of duty) in Opelousas, Louisiana. She is the youngest of five children. She relocated to Texas in 2010 as a single mother seeking better economic opportunities to provide for her daughter Kaitlyn. She supported herself and her daughter while attending law school, a goal she pursued after 14 years of teaching high school and college mathematics in Louisiana and Texas school systems. After graduating from law school in 2004, she became licensed in Louisiana and later passed the Texas Bar in 2016. She now practices law in both states. She moved to Iowa Colony in 2019, drawn to the area's small-town character while remaining accessible to Houston. She has been active in community service, including volunteering as a poll watcher. She is passionate about voting rights, having been inspired by her grandmother who lived through a time when women couldn't vote. Greene-Scott is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
