Trever Nehls is the identical twin brother of retiring U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls. He is a retired U.S. Army Colonel with 33 years of military service, having served as an infantryman and commanded troops at company, battalion, and brigade levels with multiple deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. He earned three Bronze Star medals for his service. Nehls served two terms as Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable from 2013 to 2020, and later worked in the private sector founding Nehls Consulting, LLC. He previously ran unsuccessfully for Fort Bend County Sheriff in 2020 and Fort Bend County Judge in 2022. Trever Nehls comes from a family with a long tradition of public service in law enforcement and the military. His father Edwin Nehls served in the Korean War and as sheriff of Dodge County, Wisconsin. His older brother Todd served in the Army for over 36 years and was sheriff of Dodge County, Wisconsin. His twin brother Troy is the retiring U.S. Representative. Trever enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard at age 20 in 1988, serving as an infantryman and rising to the rank of Colonel over 33 years of service. He deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait, commanding troops at multiple levels. He earned three Bronze Star medals. His Texas law enforcement career began in 1993 with the Sugar Land Police Department, where he met his wife Kerri on a blind date. He served two terms as Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable from 2013 to 2020 before transitioning to the private sector as President of a biotechnology company. He has lived in Fort Bend County with his wife and three children—Madison, Wyatt, and Parker—since 1992.
