Cancel medical debt and provide relief for hardworking families

Meyer partnered with nonprofit Undue Medical Debt, leveraging $500,000 in state funds to eliminate up to $50 million in medical debt. As of December 2025, nearly $19 million in medical debt has been abolished for over 18,000 Delawareans. The program is on track to reach the $50 million goal in 2026.

Expand access to affordable housing and lower cost of living

Status: in-progress

Meyer signed an executive order on January 24, 2025, to streamline affordable housing construction. In his first year, he announced historic investments in affordable housing. The DSHA has launched zoning and land use reform pilot programs, and Meyer signed executive orders on permitting streamlining and updated Delaware Land Use Strategies in January-February 2026.

Enshrine reproductive care and right to abortion in state constitution

Status: in-progress

Meyer signed HB 1 in May 2025 to legalize assisted dying for those with terminal illness—a promise made in his campaign. He directed initial funding for the First State Abortion Fund. A constitutional amendment enshrining reproductive rights would require legislative action and voter approval, which has not yet occurred.

Police accountability and community-oriented policing approach

Status: in-progress

As New Castle County Executive, Meyer established Delaware's first-ever Police Accountability Board and required timely public release of body camera footage for all police-involved shootings. He transformed policing through collaboration with mental health and substance abuse professionals. As governor, these achievements are being referenced as his model for the state.

Ensure inclusive state and governance for LGBTQ+ community

Status: in-progress

Meyer signed an executive order preventing state cooperation with ICE immigration operations in July 2025. He expanded the Delaware LGBTQ+ Commission in March 2026. He created the Delaware Office of Workforce Development to expand earn and learn opportunities. Named an updated Delaware Interfaith Council in April 2026.
