safe rCook Political Index (R+9 PVI)

This is a safe Republican seat based on the district's R+9 Cook Partisan Voter Index and 2024 results where the incumbent won with 62.1%. While demographics are shifting with growing Asian and Hispanic populations, the Republican advantage is substantial. A Democratic flip would be a significant upset requiring dramatic national/local shifts.

Fort Bend County Democratic Party

Trever's campaign represents 'textbook nepotism from Republican insiders' and District 22 deserves 'open, competitive elections -- not backroom family handoffs.'

The Democratic Party criticized Troy Nehls' endorsement of his twin brother Trever as representing political nepotism rather than merit-based selection.
