Sergio Muñoz Jr. is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives representing District 36 in Hidalgo County. A native of Mission, Texas, Muñoz earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and his Juris Doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, graduating magna cum laude. He owns and operates the Muñoz Law Firm and has served as Municipal Judge in Palmview. Muñoz was first elected to the Texas House in March 2010 and has been consistently re-elected. His father, Sergio Muñoz Sr., also served as a State Representative for District 36 from 1993-1997. Muñoz has received recognition from organizations including the Advocates for Patient Access, the Boys and Girls Club Texas Alliance, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection RGV Sector.
