Background

Bruce Blakeman was born in Valley Stream, New York on Long Island. He holds a BA in political science and government from Arizona University and a JD from California Western School of Law. He previously served on the New York-New Jersey Port Authority (2001-2009), as a Hempstead town councilman, and as a Nassau County legislator before becoming Nassau County Executive in 2021. He is married and a member of the Jewish Center of Atlantic Beach, a Modern Orthodox synagogue. His nephew was killed in the line of duty on 9/11 while assisting evacuations.
