Bruce Blakeman is the Nassau County Executive and Republican nominee for New York Governor. First elected to the county post in 2019, he was re-elected in November 2025 by a double-digit margin. He frames himself as bringing his Nassau County leadership record—focusing on public safety, tax control, and immigration enforcement—to the statewide level.
Bruce Blakeman was born in Valley Stream, New York on Long Island. He holds a BA in political science and government from Arizona University and a JD from California Western School of Law. He previously served on the New York-New Jersey Port Authority (2001-2009), as a Hempstead town councilman, and as a Nassau County legislator before becoming Nassau County Executive in 2021. He is married and a member of the Jewish Center of Atlantic Beach, a Modern Orthodox synagogue. His nephew was killed in the line of duty on 9/11 while assisting evacuations.
