Four-term U.S. Senator John Cornyn (born February 2, 1952) is running for a fifth term. He previously served as Texas District Judge, Texas Supreme Court Justice, and Texas Attorney General. During his Senate tenure, he served as Senate Republican Whip (2013-2019) and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair (2009-2013). He has been instrumental in confirming Trump's judicial nominees and claims a 99.2% voting record with Trump.
Cornyn was born in Houston, Texas and raised in San Antonio. His father was a decorated World War II pilot and Air Force officer. He earned a B.A. in Journalism from Trinity University (1973), J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law (1977), and LL.M. from University of Virginia (1995). He served as a Texas District Judge (1985-1991), Texas Supreme Court Associate Justice (1991-1997), and Texas Attorney General (1999-2002) before being elected to U.S. Senate in 2002. He is married to Sandy Hansen with two adult daughters. Cornyn has been a prominent voice in the Senate on defense, judiciary, and fiscal policy.
